Kyber Ridge
This is a new 4,000-square-foot single-family residence in Whistler, British Columbia. The main living volume of this five-story building is formed by a cantilevering roof with a suspended floor projecting out of the slope. The cantilever is anchored by four 3-foot deep steel beams. The floor is suspended by four stainless steel rods that are 1 inch in diameter. The lateral system is comprised of steel moment frames, concrete shear walls, and plywood shear walls. The back of the house features a large cut into bedrock that is displayed through a large glass wall.
