Tiburon Residence II

Perched atop a cliff and looking out at the Bay waters, this project is an 11,800-square-foot single-family residence with detached garage and pool house, consisting of a steel frame superstructure infilled with wood stud walls. The structures are laterally supported by wood shear walls, cantilevered steel columns with partial height wood shear wall infill and reinforced concrete shear walls. The foundations vary from spread footings with slab-on-grade to structural slabs to pier and grade beams, depending on proximity to the cliff and distance to bedrock. The basement level features full-height retaining walls at the perimeter of the house, as well as around the sunken courtyard.
