David Berends
David joined Strandberg Engineering in 2020. Previously at Simpson Gumpertz and Heger, David has experience consulting on a wide variety of projects in the heavy civil, retrofit, and marine areas, including floating structures, historic building restoration, and deep foundations.
David took an unusual path into the structural engineering world. After earning his bachelor's degree in English at San Francisco State University, he spent several years dedicated to teaching--special education in San Francisco and English in South Korea. After returning to California, David earned a Master's Degree in Structural Engineering at UC Davis.
David lives with his wife and daughter in the sunny East Bay. He enjoys going on long bike rides and woodworking when he is not spending time with his family.
